The protected marine area of Tavolara-Punta Coda Cavallo is a paradise for those who love boat trips, diving, and snorkelling. A riot of colours from the yellow of the helichrysum to the green of the junipers, is reflected in the blue shades of the sea.Tavolara is an island of vertiginous, inaccessible limestone and granite rocks. You will be able to explore paths that wind between walls and caves to the south-east of the island. Or the depths that are rich in biodiversity and display the remains of boats from any era. Hosting actors, directors, and spectators in an inimitable setting, the renowned film festival takes place every year amid the glorious atmosphere of the island.Tavolara is the symbol of the marine protected area that extends for 76 kilometres along the coast that crosses Loiri Porto San Paolo, Olbia and San Teodoro. It is not the only island that is part of the area: there are also the islets of Molara and Molarotto, the picturesque islet of Proratora, the Isola Piana and Isola dei Cavalli, the tiny islands of Porri, dei Topi , del Drago, and the Red Island.
